Operation Earnie's Plate was created by Eric Hawkins Sr to honor his father, the late Earnest Hawkins Sr. Throughout Earnest's life, he always had a giving heart. Earnest along with his late wife, Rebecca Ravenell Hawkins, always gave back to their communities and made sure their children did as well. We started this non-profit to continue Earnest's mission of giving back to those in need.
For over 10 years, Eric Hawkins Sr. worked for Berkshire Hathaway Company Cort Business Services. He was one of the top sales consultants, awarded the PSEA award annually. In Baltimore, Mrs. Hawkins created Aunt CC's Harbor House Board. Aunt CC's house is an emergency shelter for youth ages 11-17 as an alternative to detention youth that require temporary care. Mrs. Hawkins and fellow founding board member Reverend Lewis of Centennial Caroline United Methodist Church also created and managed the feed the homeless summer program at the church. The North American Family Institute now operates the shelter after being managed by Mrs. Hawkins and Reverend Lewis for ten years.
Operation Earnie's Plate's mission is to provide food and resources to Washington DC, and Maryland's homeless and disadvantaged communities by partnering with churches, businesses, and social service organizations. OEP provides direct services with daily mobile food deliveries and family grocery programs.
